Hungarian Language School in Adelaide
The Hungarian Community School, Adelaide Inc. has operated for 60+ years and is South Australia’s only registered and accredited Hungarian language school. We are a non-profit organisation, and our accredited teaching staff are comprised wholly of volunteers.
We teach three groups of students: Primary (online, grouped by ability), Secondary / SACE (years 7–12, online) and Adults (all levels of knowledge, at Brighton Secondary School on Monday evenings).

Who our classes are for
Our primary classes run online for primary school aged children, arranged by your child’s ability level and grouped with other students at a similar stage. Scheduling is flexible and organised around teacher and student needs, so contact us to discuss what works for your family.
Our adult classes welcome any level of knowledge, from complete beginners onwards. Many of our students come to Hungarian through a partner, a parent or grandparents, or a love of the country itself. Everyone is welcome.
Our online SACE Hungarian Continuers class covers Stage 1 and Stage 2, contributes points towards your child’s ATAR, and can be used towards university entry. It is aimed at students living interstate, and at those in rural South Australia who cannot attend our Monday classes in person.
Australia is the only country in the world where students can graduate from high school with a Hungarian language qualification that counts towards their university entrance score, and this school has been central to making that possible.
Where and when
Adult classes run on Mondays during the normal school terms, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at Brighton Secondary School, 305 Brighton Road, North Brighton SA 5048 (Dallwitz Building). SACE classes are held online, so students can join from anywhere in Australia.
