Privacy Policy

The Hungarian Community School, Adelaide Inc. (“the School”) is a non-profit incorporated association run by volunteers. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.

What we collect

We collect personal information directly from students, parents and guardians, mainly through enrolment forms. Depending on the class, this may include:

  • names and dates of birth of students
  • contact details — postal address, email address and telephone numbers
  • parent or guardian details and emergency contacts
  • health support information where a student has needs the School must plan for
  • records of attendance, assessment and, for SACE students, results
  • records of fees paid

If you use the contact form on this website, we receive the name, email address, telephone number and message you submit.

Why we collect it

We collect this information so that we can enrol students, teach classes, contact families, meet our duty of care, administer fees, and meet the reporting obligations that apply to us as a registered community language school.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information and we do not disclose it for marketing. We may disclose information where it is necessary for the School to operate or where the law requires it, including to:

  • the SACE Board of South Australia, for students enrolled in SACE Hungarian Continuers
  • Community Language Schools SA and the South Australian Department for Education, for registration, funding and reporting purposes
  • emergency services or medical practitioners in an emergency
  • authorities where we are required to report, including under our mandatory notification obligations

Photographs

The School sometimes takes photographs at classes and events. Photographs are only used with permission, in accordance with our Personal Information and Photograph Release Policy (ES10), which you can find on our School Policies page.

How we store it and how long we keep it

Enrolment records are held by members of the committee and teaching staff who need them to do their roles. We take reasonable steps to keep information secure and to limit access to it. Records are retained and destroyed in line with our Data and Information Management Policy (ES20) and its retention schedule.

This website

This website does not require you to create an account and we do not use it to build profiles of visitors. Messages sent through the contact form are delivered to the School’s email address and stored with the website until they are dealt with. The site may set basic cookies needed for it to function.

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you or your child, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Write to us using the contact details below and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can.
